"When I was younger I had a lot of puppy fat. I was healthy and active and danced ballet every week, but I was the chubby, tall girl surrounded by much slighter classmates who always got cast as fairies and princesses, whilst I was always a king or another sturdy, masculine character.
Although at 12 the puppy fat rapidly dropped off, the mean comments and worries about my body stayed with me long into my twenties.
Now at 26, I finally feel content in my body. I appreciate my long limbs, my broad shoulders, and the fact that this body is a healthy body, something I now realise I am incredibly lucky to have.
I wish I could tell 10 year old me how grateful she would one day be to have this body. It was a great body then, and it’s a great body now!"
